Another season round-up. 2021. Ben’s coming of age rekindles my love for the game.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "I played OK to be honest. I did a lot of range work with Ben, at three local driving ranges.... and tried to lengthen and quieten my iron swing. This year I really felt at times I was hitting my irons as well as I ever have - and that's a lovely feeling - considering I've felt for some time that I go through patches each season where I feel like I can't hit irons at all."

Three weeks to go I think. NEWS time.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "My traditional season runs from April to October (inclusive) each year - so I have, what, three weeks left to go now, of my 2021 season. I expect I'll play on during the autumn and winter as I sometimes do anyway - but even more so this year, as my eldest boy, Ben, has just started at golf academy and I think I may be invited to play a father and son competition over the "close season". Perhaps. That all said, I will not be adding any rounds to my shot scope account after the end of October (I never do) even if I play twenty more rounds before the turn of the year. I will, of course, as is usual, write a "season round-up" sometime in November. Been a bit of a strange season this year as a lot of my golf has been on par 3 courses with Ben and I don't include par 3 courses in my season's round-up. Well... we'll see eh?"

Another round round-up. A convincing score from an unconvinced golfer!

Excerpt (please click blog post title to read post in full): "I gamed my 1987 BeCu Lynx parallax irons for the first time in anger on a par 4 course yesterday after hitting them well in the garden but really not-at-all well on the range before yesterday's round. My bag MAY need tweaking after my unconvincing range session... and I didn't get to hit the full compliment of old irons on the course yesterday (just the 6 and 8 irons in terms of full shots, and positional shots played with the 9i, SW and 5i (so I didn't play the PW nor 7i)).. but we'll see anyway, in time. For now, my SOTD (see below) redeemed my thoughts on these irons and they stay in the bag (even if I really should regrip the lot of them...)."

Thirty-four and a half years

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "In fact I've altered my entire bag back to primarily lynx clubs, after gaming the BeCu parallax irons. My current bag can be seen below (I've added my Lynx CoNi wedges and my Lynx LP9 putter to the 5-SW Parallax irons. I've even (temporarily) removed my beloved 60 degree Cleveland BRZ lob wedge - something that I thought I might never do!"

Another round round-up. Better.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "...33 was the worst I could have scored playing like I did two days ago. I had something like 5 chances to up and down from jusssstttt off the green for par – and missed all 5 chances by not really getting my chip on right at all."

WIMB 2021 and my current state of play.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "Right now though, unless I really HAVE to get as much distance as possible off the tee, I would far rather hit my old favourite my 4W. Again if I set up to hit it right and have one swing thought here at the top of the backswing, which is LEEEEEE TREVINO it (ie chase it down the fairway, having my right shoulder touch my cheek as the club passes through the ball), then I can sweep a 4W right to left 200yds down the fairway, nay bother."

Another round round-up. Lovely. Just lovely.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "...Ben played quite beautifully yesterday. It was a pleasure and a real joy to see him clipping balls off the turf so well. I have not much doubt that he'd have beaten many adults I've played with yesterday, think he'll beat 50 soon on a big course and very soon perhaps even be threatening to beat his old man (me)! Wonderful to see."
