Three bits of news on women/membership/dress codes etc. in golf – and my brief takes on them.

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "This should have happened DECADES ago and I expect better from Scotland to be honest, having played on courses there quite a bit (my Grandfather was a Dunediner Doctor and my father and uncle both live back in their "home country" now)..."

“Wally” by name….

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read blog post in full): "...tuned into the final round of the BMW international Open on Sunday - to once again watch "Wally" (he's called that by his fellow pros) take his caddy apart publicly as he (not his caddy) hooked his final tee shot into the drink and then pushed his approach into the drink again. Twitter reacted predictably (and correctly as far as I'm concerned!) Caddy abused DOES seem to be getting out of hand.."

Another round round-up. Hmmm…

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read blog post in full): "And the good?
My new Lynx (LP9) Putter is the DOGS. The ball feels so good and controllable coming off the face. I'm genuinely quite excited about this (although I have said this about putters in the past!). Maybe it was the length of the grass on the greens which suited me yesterday (after all this rain) but I got the pace of the greens SPOT ON yesterday and felt like I could hole everything (even though I didn't - I took 16 putts). If I keep threatening the hole like yesterday and keep feeling as confident with that putter... putts WILL eventually drop - I just need to take the time to line up...

Should “Pebble Beach” be renamed “Ball Beach”?

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "The question I'd like you to answer is:
"How many (estimated) balls cover the seabed around the Stillwater Cove area of Pebble Beach golf links?"
You'll find the answer in a comment to this post below. But have a guess before you look at the answer - I think you'll be shocked..."

Value Man Tips 22 and 23. The US OPEN at Pebble Beach. (Wax on. Wax off).

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "After I gave you an 80-1 E/W result last time out, this week I've looked at the outright market and don't really see much value in that market to be honest - I have a feeling that DJ or Koepka or perhaps Rory or even perhaps Schauffele, Spieth, Cantlay, Simpson or Snedeker will win - and I see no value in ANY of them - so this week I'm going to give you superb value in the special markets for this major.
My tips then?...."

My new range? Very possibly… although…

Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "The vista (the area you hit into) looks so enticing from the bays. The best-looking driving range I've ever used BY FAR. See the first photo in this post. Most driving ranges I've used (from memory I've used one at Wycombe, one at Reading, one at Wexham, one at Binfield (my very local range, closed at present), one at the Downshire in Bracknell, one at Blackwater and one at Bird Hills (Maidenhead))and they're ALL MUCH WORSE than the set up at Ascot - at Lavender Park you can see where you hit the ball..."
