Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "Sure, Antalya itself is an absolute shite hole, but Çıralı , a little way down the Lycian coast is probably THE place I'd spend the rest of my days at, if I could."
Month: October 2018
New news? Not really. Just a sad reminder.
Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "We went (undoubtedly) to see our "heroes" Brian Barnes and Sam Torrance but I also clearly remember watching (in awe) the late, great Seve as well as my personal hero, Sandy Lyle. And of course people like Ewen Murray (the Sky Sports commentator now) were playing on tour back then. I've been back many times since 1985. Perhaps as many as 15 times. Perhaps even more. (I haven't counted). Yes, each May, as MY favourite season starts to stir from slumber and my favourite birds of all, swifts, arrive back from their overwintering grounds in the Congo, I always look forward to spending a day on "The Burma road"*…."
Another season round-up. 2018. The best season yet?
Excerpt (please click on blog post title to read post in full): "Before I get onto announcing my shot of the year I will just mention a couple of highlights from this season – a season, which, like I say, I think has been a very good one for me...."
Another round round-up. Three 39s in one week – and now…this really IS my last “scoring round” of “my 2018 season”.
Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "Brief round description to follow, including SOTD nomination."
Meet you at Nandu’s?
Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "It might be fair to say that "I know my animals" (as well I should, I suppose, after almost half a century arseing about the countryside being fascinated by all forms of life)… so what's the strangest (or least expected perhaps) animal I've seen on a golf course then?"
Another round round-up. All a bit of a struggle now…
Excerpt Please click on blog post title to read post in full: "I think I'm a little golfed out. It's all become a bit of a struggle. I thiiink.... I may need to knock this season on the head now, take a few days off - and hit the range when my knee stops scaring the bejaysus out of me!"
Another round round-up. Bad irons, great score!
Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "It was a lovely sunny evening yesterday, with a westerly breeze that soon dropped to nothing really, as the moon came up. And I'm happy to say that whilst the fairways at Billingbear are in genuinely appalling condition still (I mean truly awful), the greens on the other hand.. are once again SUPERB."
Another round round-up. The dragonfly’s last hurrah?
Excerpt (Please click blog post title to read post in full): "A lot of reader(s!) may look at the above and be thinking.... A shot of 135(ish) yards - and you took a 5 hybrid? (The equivalent of a 5 iron)???!!! I could get there with a wedge!!!! This, dear readers... is why I tend to score well at golf and tend to score FAR better than most players who are thinking the thought above. Permit me to explain..."
It’s a fanny ol’ game Saint, a fanny ol’ game.
Excerpt (Please click on blog post title to read post in full): "There I was, only a week ago, waxing lyrical about my lovely bladed irons and playing (some of) the best golf I've ever played.... Fast forward a week and I head up to the range to dial in a few irons... And it appears I've never actually picked up a club before, let alone swung it at a golf ball...."
Goodbye. But certainly NOT good riddance.
